MICHAEL NEWHOUSE ALLISON

pianist and composer

 BIO

Michael Newhouse Allison is an American pianist and composer who grew up in Tacoma, Washington. Throughout the 1990’s Michael simultaneously was a public school teacher, high school soccer coach, and composer of five albums through his own record label, Heather & Rain Productions. During this time, he also performed throughout the Pacific Northwest headlining solo piano concerts at the Broadway Center Rialto Theater. His music is in the vein of Contemporary Instrumental, Modern Classical, New-Age Instrumental and is comprised of mostly solo piano. Listeners describe Michael’s music as “authentic, genuine, poignant, patient, emotional, calming, inspiring, and a singular expression of life and dreams.” After suspending his professional musical efforts in 1999 to focus on his family, Michael returned to music composition and recording with the 2016 release, Bridge of Worlds, and rebranded himself to include his middle name. He rereleased three solo piano albums in 2017, Where Eagles Fly, Every Breath a Gift, and Free to Run. Will Ackerman, founder of Windham Hill Records, described Michael’s latest work as “…some of the finest and most unique piano recordings I’ve heard in many years. His musical voice is singular and his performances are equal to that.”

Michael Allison is my all time favorite solo pianist. I was fortunate enough to hear his music over the sounds of a very crowded venue some years ago. I fell in love with his music and bought all three of his recordings--"Where Eagles Fly", "Free to Run", and "Every Breath a Gift". If anyone knows what happened to him I'd love to hear about it. His music feeds my spirit, feeds my life. He's amazing. - NYLady
